"The Res"

For those of you that don't know, that is pronounced Rez, ya know, short for reservoir. But in Delta we are cool like that and just call it "the res", we also go to "the store", a trip to Provo is known as "going up north", people who smoke (the wild kids in high school) are called "loadies", we also have "the stop light". There are lots of fun Delta-isms, but this post is just dedicated to our trip to "the res" on Wednesday.

Hayden, Rylan and I went with my mom and met my Grandma Joyce, my cousin Laura-her kids Brynn and Deagan, my cousin Jono(he had a day off from "working" at the golf course), my cousin Kim-her baby Gabby, and my cousin Cally and her kids Cole, Cade and Addy.

It was a very hot day, but because we were in Delta it was windy (it's always windy in Delta!), so it didn't feel too hot. It was a great day. Ya know, people see the pretty water and are scared to swim in the res, but nobody has ever gotten cryptosporidium from swimming in the res (Melissa, maybe you should start swimming there again and build up your immune system so you don't get it again this year!).

Thanks Bill and Ann for letting us go out to your place. Next time let's do it on a day that you guys can come too.

Flashback Friday-New Kids

I think this picture is hilarious. This was my 12th birthday party (1989), notice the German Chocolate cake (somethings never change). I love our hair-the bangs totally rock! You can't see my shorts, but they make me laugh-I LOVED them! They are black biker shorts (yes, biker shorts!), with black and white checks down the side-and yes, I wore them out in public as regular shorts. I remember wearing them roller skating at the roller rink. So anyways, the reason I picked this picture was because of what I got to do on that birthday. I went to my first concert-NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK! Jill, Julie and I went to the concert at the Marriott Center, their parents drove us up in their van (the really cool one with the mauve interior). That was one of the greatest nights of my life!
So yesterday I was getting ready for work, I had the TV on VH1 and I heard this song that I kind of liked so I went to see who it was, believe it or not, it was the New Kids singing their new song Summertime! Then I found out that they are coming to the E Center November 15 (Jill, do you think you will be up for it-you can bring your baby if you need!) It just brought back so many fun memories from growing up, plus they aren't too bad looking still (maybe a little older, but aren't we all).
So if anybody wants to go to the concert with me, I would totally go, I'll even try to do my hair in a pony tail and rat my bangs really high if I need to.

What we've been up to...

I have been in a blogging slump lately, plus it's just been pretty busy around here.
They split our ward a couple weeks ago and instead of having us just go to sacrament meeting until they called all the teachers they had us go to all of church (imagine 2 hours of sharing time!) (plus we go from 1:00-3:00 with sacrament meeting last-yuck!), so I made an executive decision to skip church last week.
We took the kids to the zoo, so they could animal watch, and I could people watch. I know that I am far from perfect, but at least I try to hide my imperfections-some people could care less and wear things that even their 4 year old shouldn't wear. It really made me feel a little better about myself. (was that rude? sorry) We picked a great day, it was one of the very few nice days we have had this year. The kids loved it.
Hayden is playing coach pitch this year. What a crappy year for baseball. He has had two games rained out and we have frozen at the rest of his games. He is doing a great job, and his coaches are amazing. I am so thankful for people who are willing to donate their time to coaching, and for their kindness and patience; it makes it better for people like me who aren't that kind or patient. Also, what a crappy year for putting in a yard. I know I should be grateful for the rain, but it's awfully hard when you can't plant flowers, or do sprinklers, or get curbing, or even mow the lawn because it NEVER STOPS RAINING! This is a picture of Dee and Hayden putting in sprinklers.We took the kids to Indiana Jones 4-it was a pretty good movie, but in terms of the Indiana Jones series-I would rate it as my least favorite movie. Now don't get me wrong Shia LeBeouf is pretty easy on the eyes, but the whole story line was a little to far fetched for me. The boys loved it. Hayden did point out that it did have more swearing than the other movies-so that was a disappointment. Well, now my children and I are going to Olson's nursery (again) to spend some more money (again) on some plants that I probably can't plant, because it's raining (again).
