My Boys

My boys are about as different as can be. People say they look alike, but in reality they don't. Hayden is 100% Nuttall and Rylan, well, he looks like my brother. Hayden is the intellectual; he has always been too smart for his own good. While Rylan is the goofball. Even from the moment he was born he had people laughing!

When I came into Hayden's room the other day, this is what I saw:
Though he may look just like his dad, he has inherited my love of reading. One of my new favorite things, is on a quiet Saturday or Sunday sitting on my bed reading a book and having Hayden come in and sit by me and read his own book.

Then there's Rylan. Where do I begin? If you ask him what he wants to be when he grows up, he'll tell you "a baker", much to his dad's dismay. But hello can you say-Emeril, Bobby Flay!? Can you really blame him. He has me as his mom. We love to cook together and to read cookbooks together at night in bed. We share a love of food (however he does like his vegetables, unlike me). I was making bread the other day and he really wanted to help, so I let him and I must say he did a pretty good job:

Even though, I may not be the best mom all of the time. I am happy to see that they are learning some positive things from me. Even if Rylan says that I am a "big fat woman" and that it's okay to say "crappy" if you are an old woman. (he must have learned that from his dad) I love my boys with all of my heart, and I am so happy to be their mom.

President Hinckley

Tonight is a sad night...
But what a happy night for Sister Hinckley!

I am shocked and saddened by the death of our beloved Prophet, President Gordon B. Hinckley. He is truly a man of God. I am so grateful for the opportunity we had to attend President Fausts funeral and to be in the presence of this great man. It is something that I will never forget. I am so happy for him to be joined once again with his sweet wife. They are such a wonderful example of love and of how a marriage should be. I am so thankful to have been alive during the time that he has served as President of our church. I will always love this beloved prophet.

Rylan...I love you!

Rylan is the sweetest boy. He is so loving in thought and in words and he loves to show it through hugs and kisses. I realize that he is only three, but sometimes his words of affection aren't really very appropriate-but to him he means it with only love and affection. Like if he ever tells you that he "loves your chubby cheeks"-then that means you have made it on his good list.

However, today I got a different term of endearment; I was getting dressed this morning and he came up and hugged me and blew on my stomach and said "I just love your big fat belly!" Yeah, that made me feel wonderful! I know he meant it in the sweetest way and it was supposed to be a compliment, but trust me I am bumping up my exercise-and no more cheating on my diet! :)

Bubble Trouble

We don't have bubble baths too often at our house. Hayden can't have them because of his eczema-his legs itch too bad afterwards. Rylan was terrified of bubble baths as a baby so he never had them either. But now with our jetted tub, he thinks they are wonderful.

Poor HaydenRemeber the episode of Friends where Chandler discovers how great baths are? Well I think that's how Rylan feels now.

Sorry I know I always post lots of pics, but I can't help myself

Rockin the mohawk, all he needs now is a Thomas tattoo on his shoulder!

a little gross...a little funny

I don't know if anyone else's kids don't flush the toilet at night, like my kids--I mean how can I expect them to when they barely remember to flush it during the day. So yesterday morning I was laying in bed and Rylan came in and said that his shirt was wet and wanted to change his pajamas. I reached out and felt his shirt and it was SOAKING! I asked him what happened and he said he fell in the toilet-I said "What?!" Well I guess he was still sleepy, he went into the bathroom, climbed on the toilet (he sits to pee) and totally fell in! Yuck! He was covered in pee water and I touched him! He didn't seem too phased by it, but he was mad that I was making him take a bath when he wasn't even ready to wake up. However he had a great time having a bubble bath in our tub. I will post some of those pics, they're cute.

Well today has been better, at least we didn't start out with "pee water".

Happy Anniversary!

So my sis-in-law Emilie and I were saying how blogs are kind of dumb. Because people aren't truly honest. They only show the good moments in their lives, (not the days you haven't showered all day, when you can barely get dressed by 5:00 pm, you can't remember if you brushed your teeth); they only show the fun things they do with their kids (they don't tell you about the yelling, the spanking, and then parking them in front of the tv so that you can get something done); they tell you how wonderful their spouse is and how much they love them (they fail to mention those days when you can barely stand to look at them, you wonder if you really want to be married to this person, and the nights you spend in different rooms of the house watching separate tvs).

So anyways, I'm going to be candid about my anniversary.
We celebrated (well not really celebrated, I guess we just had )our 9th anniversary on last Tuesday. We were unable to do anything because Hayden had basketball. Which wasn't a big surprise or disappointment, because we never do anything for our anniversary. So Saturday we convinced my sister to watch our kids while we went to dinner and a movie. We ate at PF Changs, the food was delicious. Dee isn't much of a conversationalist, so it was kind of quiet. We did argue a little-nothing major. Then we were going to go to the movie when our friends the Leiters and the Battys called to see if we wanted to hang out. I was way excited, because I wouldn't just be talking to myself.

So most people for their anniversaries go somewhere to be alone, somewhere romantic, somewhere fun (Yeah, like Lew & Flo-BTW how was Hawaii?). Not us, we went to Payson and went bowling! I'm not complaining, I had a great time. I actually like bowling. And I like being with our friends. Other than fighting with my husband the whole time, it was a fun night.
Sorry if I sound to negative-but I'm just telling it like it is. Happy Anniversary Dee-I love you.

He bowled much better once he pegged and rolled his pants. I don't think he will ever have to worry about cankles!Great form Kenny!

So I saw this thing on Lisa Ramey's blog, where you shake your head back and forth and take pics while you are doing it. Her pics were hilarious! Ours didn't turn out quite as well, but this should give you an idea what it does.

You'll think this is kind of cheesy, but I think it is adorable. Every year my brother Brook and my husband Dee have their portrait taken together. Brook has never had a brother and he loves Dee so much-he thought this was a good way to honor their friendship and brotherhood. They are truly very special.

Relapse...

Well, the time has come that I think an intervention must happen, and rehab is my last hope. He's done so well lately, so I was shocked to learn that he was doing it again. He does wonderful all day long, then apparently at night when I am not with him he is doing it again.

Last night when I was going to bed I went in to check on Rylan, he had fallen asleep listening to his discman and I went to get my camera to take a picture, because he was so stinkin' cute! When I came back to his room, this is what I saw...

Apparently, subconsiously he has not kicked his thumb addiction.

I have a friend who sucked her thumb until she was nine, she said that still to this day she has dreams that she is sucking her thumb-I am willing to bet that she is really doing it! And she has 4 kids! I am worried about him-I can just see him on his mission sucking his thumb in his sleep, everyone else will make fun of him. And can you just imagine on his honeymoon night when his wife discovers his secret! He is doomed!

But I do have to say that thumb-suckers are by far the best babies ever! And it is so very very very cute!

Wish us luck...
