Well maybe I'm not an illegal alien, but right now I am an illegal driver. (Please don't turn me in, it wasn't intentional)
So when we moved, I forgot to change my address for my driver's license. My birthday came and went, and I never thought anything about it. I went to WalMart a couple days ago, and I didn't have my debit card, so I wrote a check out. But the checker told me that they couldn't accept my check because my driver's license expired one week ago. Yep, so I had to do the "walk of shame", I had to leave my groceries there because I couldn't pay for them.
I can't just renew my license online, because I have had mine for like ten years and I need to finally go get me one of the cool new ones. I keep forgetting to do it. So while I was remembering today, I decided to do it after work. I hurried home from work, picked up the kids and drove to Nephi. (Why Nephi? you ask, well it's closer than Provo and MUCH less busy!)
We made it to Nephi, found the DMV in the basement of the Senior Citizen's Center, and discovered that they are only in the office on Tuesdays. I made it a point to check the internet before I went, and it said that all Utah DMV office hours were Mon-Thur 7:00-6:00, but apparently that doesn't include Nephi.
But the trip to Nephi wasn't a complete loss, we stopped at Reed's drive-in and got a delicious burger and fries for the way home.
So, wish us happy safe driving until next Tuesday. (Well every other day after that too)

I don't know how I feel about this full-time work thing! You have been neglecting your blog! Just teasing. Good to see you are alive and breaking the law!
Reading this post makes me glad that I just renewed my license online.....before I forgot and got arrested. Just better hope you don't get pulled over or it may be your picture I'm gawking at on the utah county jail website! On a happy note, at least you got a delicious burger and fries out of the deal. (Which sound so good right now...Damn diets!)
I have totally done the walk of shame at walmart. That was a sad day. :)
Our DMV in Delta is on the 1st,
3rd and 4th Wednesdays of each month. Kind of crazy and hard to keep track of. Life in Mayberry, gotta love it!
Jimi!! I found you. Love the blog! I had to look twice to make sure it was you, because of the blonde hair pics. I found your blog thru Finch's who had Geldmachers who had you! I'll put you on my friends list if that's ok..and we'll keep in touch!
Bummer! I hate it when that sort of thing happens. You seem to have a good attitude about it though. :-)
I spent a month dodging the cops when my car reg. expired...Maybe we can share a jail cell together.
I went to the DMV, after NOT driving for a whole month because my license had expired THREE YEARS AGO, and the woman said, "Why do you want a new license? It doesn't expire for another year?"
"It's already expired," I said. "See!" I showed her the date.
She turned the license over and said, "Did you look on the back?"
So I did and she was right.
And now I'm dieting so I won't look like the Goodyear Blimp next June when my license REALLY expires.
Good luck tomorrow.
