Field Trip...

Remember the days in school when you got to go on a field trip, and how excited you were, and it was the best day ever?! Well it's a little different going as a parent. I was still really excited to go, and it was a fun day, but a whole day with first graders!?! They are just slightly obnoxious! And kids aren't very well behaved these days and they don't listen to grown ups (yes, I sound like an old person). And yet, it was very nice to spend the day with Hayden-and to especially see what a good kid he really is. Plus, I was able to see that Hayden's teeth aren't as crooked as they could be, it was a little bit comforting.

So first off-Hayden wants to know why they call them "field" trips...any ideas? It's not like we went to a field in Oak City or anything. We went to the Clark Planetarium (not to be confused with the Hansen Planetarium that we would go to when we were younger - which does not exist anymore). This trip has renewed Hayden's desire to be an astronaut when he grows up (an ambition that I too shared as a child--Jill remember watching and playing Space Camp all the time!)

Hayden & his friend Gage on the bus

The trip felt very rushed, we only had 5 minutes to look around before we watched the movie (which I am definately getting too old for, because I had to close my eyes during most of it, or I would have been sick). Then after the movie we only had about 5 minutes to look around before we had to eat our lunch and go home. I remember, as a kid, having more time to see all the exhibits-like the pendulum, etc. I told Hayden that we would go again and spend more time checking everything else out.

Walking on the moon (The girl next to Hayden is Jasmine and her mom is 21(!), and she has a boyfriend, and she goes out every night, and she goes dancing, and...it's amazing what you can learn when you sit by a 6 year old on a bus!)

Doing the weather report

Well it must not have been too bad of a time for me, because I have volunteered to go on the next field trip in April--to Fairview to the fish hatchery--yep, I know, it sounds exciting!

Hayden, thanks for letting me go with you. I had a great time and you are such a great kid, I love you!!!!!

I totally remember our space camp days! I know we truley believed we would go to space..after we married Def Lepord or Tears for fears...I still plan on it, do you? (going to space) I bet if we watched that again it wouldn't be nearly as good. Cute pictures of the field trip! I laughed at your comment on the 21 year old Mom. Those kids sure can talk!
