Flash Back Friday 5/23/08

Hi my name is Jimi, and I was a cheerleader. Yes I will admit it, and actually I will admit it quite proudly. I LOVED cheer! I dreamed my whole life of being a cheerleader. As long as I can remember my whole goal in life was to be a cheerleader. I idolized the cheerleaders (i.e. Dorie Peterson, Kathy Dekker, Ginny Lake and many others).
Yes I was a cheerleader for the 'MIGHTY RABBITS' and love every minute of it! I was able to be with my best friends all the time, I was able to get out of school to go to away games, I was also able to become great friends with all of the athletes on the teams. It looked kind of funny when I would walk down the hall in between Crista Pollock and Angie Fowles (I'm 5'1" and they are like 5'10").
My junior year sucked and was a blast all that the same time. Our advisor pretty much stunk! Sorry Vicki, but you were not cut out to be a cheerleading advisor-she kind of ruined it for us. But I had the best friends ever...Wanda, Spot and Stock (Cally, Melisa & Jen). We had so much fun, even the time we were goofing off so much at a football game that Mrs. T. came down and yelled at us (I think she even swore at us). Most of that year, Cally was dating my much beloved cousin Brandon a/k/a Smitty and she even stayed with him after he threw up down the side of her mom's mini-van (now that's what I call love)
We stuck through "Jarm" (the volleyball coach) telling us that cheerleaders were worthless and all we could do was color and make posters-yeah I didn't care for her too much.
Spot was one of the greatest people/friends that I knew (I sometimes can't even remember what her real name is). Cally & I wore our cheer uniforms to her wedding as stand in bridesmaids.
Jennifer and I were inseperable, kind of like Batman and Robin. If I was ever by myself people would ask me what was wrong, where she was, or if she was sick. She was my best friend ever!
They were such great friends even when one of us made out with someone else's boyfriend at State Volleyball in Park City, they stood by and stuck up for us. (BTW if you ever read this, I am really sorry about that MDN) :)
Cheer has become a completely different sport now. They even have classes to teach all the skills that you will need. Trust me, if I ever had a daughter she would be in those classes from birth (she however, would probably want to play something like softball UGH!)

GO DELTA!

Brit,
I guess there is really nothing wrong with softball, for other people. I personally HATE playing it, it gives me anxiety like no other. I always dreaded the summer when we would have to play YW softball. I have told Dee that I will never play it and not to pressure me, because it gives me ulcers! seriously!

Hey Jimi, I thought I would come check out your blog 'cause I started thinking of you when you posted on my blog. I can't believe how big your boys are! But seriously, maybe you won't ever have a girl 'cause she'd be like the "Joan Benet Ramsey" of cheer due to her psycho mother! :) love ya!

Hi Jimi,
Thanks, you also look great and have a super cute family!! Yeah, I joined 7 yrs ago. Kyle was a good little missionary:) I love the Church & its teachings. I am in Primary, teaching the 9 yr olds. They have a ton of energy, and are goofy, which makes it fun. Kyle is 2nd Counselor in E.Q. Pres. Before that, he was Secretary to the Bishop. He really loved that calling b/c our Bishop is great.
Your blog entries are fun to read, funny & entertaining:) It's good to see what everyone is up to 13 years later (wow, we are OLD!!!).
Take care, Jess

Cute photo! It brought back tons of memories! You were the flippinist', tumblingist' one of the bunch. :-) If it makes you feel better, I remember playing softball with you with our ward team. I remember how much you hated it, but I also remember once when you closed your eyes, held out your mit, and the ball landed in it! We were all so proud!!!
